Simon Waweru is my name. Armed with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology, I am tasked with controlling the quality of product here at Kinangop Dairy Ltd. My job here at Kinangop dairy has pushed me to increase my reason beyond what I imagined. In dairy, you are not limited in terms of research, career growth and exposure. Producing quality dairy products entails so many things. Any microorganism in the world can attack milk. So, my first challenge is, of course, fighting spoilage. Hygiene is key, and it has to be maintained all through the processing because any mistake can lead to spoilage of tonnes of product. This motivates me to work extra hard to make sure that our milk, yoghurt, lala, cooking cream and ghee are the best in the market. What drives me to come to work and do my best is quality output. When I hear that the customer is happy with the product, I feel encouraged to press on and continue with the good work. For me work is play because I enjoy it 100%. Sometimes, when I am on my off day, I find myself pushed by the love of Dairy research and wanting to discover more.
